Frequently Asked Questions

What is a concierge physical therapist and how is this different than the traditional model?

A concierge physical therapist means that you will essentially have a “physical therapist in your back pocket.” Being out of network with insurance companies allows me to take the time to be accessible to you and provide high quality care without worrying about 3rd party payers dictating when, how, and what type of treatment your child needs. Treatment for your child is convenient (in your home) and fast. You do not have to wait for insurance authorizations and approvals to initiate care which means we get your child the help they need when they need it. It does mean that you pay for each visit out of your pocket. See below if you for information on reimbursement. Click here to see my services and rates.

Can I get a portion of my child’s therapy covered by insurance?

Generally, yes. Although this is subject to your individual insurance company and if they reimburse for "out of network” services. To seek this reimbursement I can provide you with a Super Bill. This is a document that indicates the amount of visits and types of treatment your child received. If you would like a Superbill please let me know prior to initiating our plan of care. I would also highly recommend calling your insurance company, asking for their “out of network reimbursement rates”, and asking if there is any additional documentation or information they need. I am happy to help you with this process as well as provide the necessary to help make this type of care as accessible as possible.

Does my child need a physician’s prescription or referral to receive physical therapy services.

In the State of California you do not require a referral or prescription to access physical therapy services directly. If you are paying out of pocket there is no limit on PT services your child receives as long as the services are deemed appropriate based on the patient’s evaluation. If you are utilizing insurance coverage, patients are allowed to receive a PT evaluation and treatment for 45 days or 12 visits, whichever comes first.

Your child’s evaluation will include a comprehensive systems review and screening, determine if physical therapy treatment is appropriate and warranted, and appropriate referrals will be provided if needs are identified that are outside of the scope of physical therapy practice.

For more information on this, check out the California Physical Therapy Association (CPTA) website, here.

What if I don’t live in the South Bay and surrounding area?

I provide virtual evaluations and visits. If you would prefer in-person visits, please contact me directly via phone or email. Depending on where you live, visits may still be possible with an additional mileage fee.
